Graduation and what’s next
You made it. Six levels ago you did not know what a futures contract was. Now you can read a chart, place and manage an order, describe how markets move, size your risk, and run a disciplined process around all of it. This last lesson explains how to graduate and where you can go from here.
The final exam
Seat Holder ends with the final exam, and it is different from the earlier level quizzes:
- About 30 questions.
- Drawn from every level’s question bank: Runner, Clerk, Order Filler, Floor Trader, Local, and Seat Holder.
- 80 percent needed to pass.
- Like every LearnToTick quiz, it needs a Discord login, and after a failed attempt there is a 30-minute cooldown before you can try again.
Passing grants the Graduate role (you need the Seat Holder role first, which you earned by passing the Local quiz).
How to prepare
Because questions come from the whole course, review is worth it. Each lesson opens with a short Key questions block; reading those for every lesson is a fast way to refresh the main ideas. Spend extra time on any level that felt shaky the first time.
The Broker track (optional)
After Seat Holder, the optional Broker track unlocks. It is preparation for the Series 3, the National Commodity Futures Examination. You met it briefly in Runner Lesson 13: NFA rules require people applying to register in several roles, including the salespeople of futures brokers (called associated persons), to meet a proficiency requirement, which in most cases means passing the Series 3.
You do not need the Broker track to trade your own account. It is for students who are curious about the industry side of futures or are considering working in it. It goes much deeper into regulation, registration, and the rules that govern firms and professionals.
Floor Governor: giving back
LearnToTick has a community role called Floor Governor. It is for graduates who volunteer to answer questions in the help channels of the LearnToTick Discord server.
Explaining an idea to someone else is one of the best ways to understand it yourself. If you remember how confusing ticks, margin, or order types felt at the start, you are exactly the right person to help the next student. Floor Governors help other students with the course material; like the course, that help is education only, never trade calls or personal advice.
A next step: Crossroads Markets
Ready for the next room? Come trade alongside VWAP George and MandyintheMarkets in Crossroads Markets, a futures Discord built on process: a written plan, a prepared morning and an honest journal. Joining is free, and you get the Weekly Roadmap, free CrossRoads Live sessions and Open Mic. Visit Crossroads Markets.
Keep learning
Graduation is not the end of learning. A few places to keep going. The first three come from regulators and the exchange:
- CFTC Learn and Protect (https://www.cftc.gov/LearnAndProtect/index.htm): education from the CFTC (which you met in Runner Lesson 13), including how to check whether a firm is registered and how to spot common frauds.
- NFA investor education and resources (https://www.nfa.futures.org/investors/investor-resources/index.html): webinars, newsletters, and guides from NFA, the industry’s self-regulatory organization (also Runner Lesson 13).
- CME Group education: CME Group, the exchange behind ES, NQ, MES, and MNQ, publishes education material on its website.
- Topstep Training Camp (https://www.topstep.com/blog/futures-trading-for-beginners-training-camp): as of 2026-10-06, Topstep describes Training Camp as a free learning area inside its platform, marked as a Beta. It offers short video lessons on futures basics, risk management, and placing trades, with simulated practice so no real money is at risk. You need a free Topstep account to use it; no purchase is required. Topstep is a company, not a regulator or an exchange, so treat this as one option among the others, not a recommendation. Disclosure: George, who runs LearnToTick, is a TopstepTV contributor.
And keep doing what Seat Holder taught: follow your written plan, journal every trade, review every week, and keep your size small until your process has earned the right to grow.
