Privacy policy
Effective date: October 15, 2026. Last updated: October 15, 2026.
This page explains, in plain language, what LearnToTick collects, why, where it is kept, how long, and how to ask us to delete it. The short version: you can read every lesson without giving us anything. We keep only what we need to run quizzes, give Discord roles, and send the emails you asked for. We do not sell your data, and the site has no ads and no analytics or tracking tools of its own.
1. Who is responsible for your data
LearnToTick is operated by VWAP Ventures LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("we", "us"). Contact for anything about privacy: [email protected].
2. Reading lessons (no account)
Reading lessons does not need an account, and we do not store anything about you in our database when you only read. Like every website, the servers that deliver the pages see technical information such as your IP address and browser type; see section 7 (Cloudflare).
You can also try the Runner quiz as a guest without logging in. Your answers are checked on our server but not saved. To limit abuse we keep a small counter of guest tries, labeled with a scrambled code made from your IP address (not the address itself) and the time of your last try.
3. Logging in with Discord
Quizzes need a Discord login. When you log in, Discord asks you to allow the "identify" permission. That gives us your basic Discord profile. It does not give us your email address, your messages, your server list or your password.
From that profile we use:
- Your Discord user id, a number Discord uses to identify your account. We store it with your quiz attempts.
- Your Discord display name, so the site can show who is logged in. It is kept only in your login cookie, not in our database.
We use the access Discord gives us once, at login, to read your profile. We do not save it.
4. Quiz attempts
When you take a quiz while logged in, we store a record of the attempt in our database:
- your Discord user id;
- the level of the quiz;
- which questions you were given, in order;
- the answer you picked for each question;
- your score, the number of questions, and whether you passed;
- when the attempt started and finished;
- a random id for the attempt.
Why: to score the quiz on our server, to apply the wait after a failed attempt, to let you resume an unfinished attempt, to keep the quizzes fair, and to give or restore your Discord roles. When you log in, we check your past passes and re-apply the roles you earned, for example if you passed before joining the Discord server.
The Broker's Desk (Series 3 practice) checks your answers on our server but does not store them; your practice progress stays in your browser. For each logged-in user we keep only a small counter with your Discord user id and the time of your last check, to limit how fast answers can be checked.
5. Discord roles
If you are a member of the LearnToTick Discord server, our bot looks up which roles you hold there and adds the role you earned when you pass. Your roles are stored by Discord, not by us, and other members of the server can see them. Joining the server is optional; if you are not a member, no roles are given.
When a quiz pass gives you a new rank, our bot may post one line in a channel of the LearnToTick Discord server that names you, for example "@you just made Clerk." Other members of the server can see it.
6. The email list
The email list is optional. To join, you type your email address and tick a box agreeing to receive LearnToTick news and course updates. We store:
- your email address;
- your status on the list (pending, confirmed or unsubscribed);
- the exact consent wording you agreed to, its version, and when you agreed;
- which signup form you used (for example the home page or a quiz page);
- a random unsubscribe code and a random confirmation code;
- when the entry was created and last changed.
Why: to send you the emails you asked for, and to be able to show that you agreed. Every email we send will carry an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes one click on a confirm button. We do not sell or share the list.
We do not send email yet. We will name the email provider here before the first email goes out, because it will receive your email address to send our emails. New signups are kept as "pending" for now, and we will ask you to confirm your address before sending you email.
7. Services that handle data for us
- Discord handles the login and the LearnToTick server and its roles. Discord's own privacy policy applies to your Discord account.
- Cloudflare hosts the site (Cloudflare Pages), runs the login and quiz code, and stores our database (Cloudflare D1). Cloudflare processes technical information, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare keeps standard request logs to run and protect the service. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that. Our pages load no analytics or tracking scripts.
- Fonts. The site's font (Poppins) is served from our own site. Your browser does not contact Google or any other font service.
- Stripe processes donations. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to your payment.
- YouTube. Lesson videos are not live yet. When they are added, playing or loading a video will let Google (YouTube) collect data under its own policy. We will update this section when the videos go live.
We do not use advertising networks or third party analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
8. Cookies
We use two cookies, both needed for login. Neither is used for tracking or advertising.
- ltt_session: keeps you logged in. It holds your Discord user id, your display name and an expiry time, and is signed so it cannot be changed without us noticing. It lasts up to 7 days, or until you log out.
- ltt_oauth: a short-lived cookie used only during the login step to protect against forged logins and to send you back to the page you were on. It lasts up to 10 minutes and is removed when login finishes.
Both cookies are set so that page scripts cannot read them and they are only sent over secure connections. If you block cookies, lessons still work but you cannot log in to take quizzes.
9. Legal basis
We keep email list data because you gave consent by ticking the box. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing. We keep login and quiz data because it is needed to provide the quizzes and roles you asked for, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the quizzes fair.
10. How long we keep data
- Quiz results and rank progress: kept while you use the site, and deleted within 30 days if you ask. Note that passes on record are how we restore your roles at login, so deleting them removes that record.
- Email list entries: kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days.
- Unconfirmed sign-ups: the confirmation link expires 7 days after you sign up. If you do not confirm, the entry is deleted 30 days after the link expires.
- Rate-limit and guest quiz counters: short-lived and overwritten automatically. The guest counter is stored as a scrambled code, never as an IP address.
- Donation records: kept as long as the law requires for VWAP Ventures LLC's tax records. Stripe holds the card details.
- Login cookies: up to 7 days (session) and up to 10 minutes (login step), as above.
11. Your choices and deletion requests
- Unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email.
- Log out at any time; this clears your login cookie.
- Ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion of your data by emailing [email protected]. For quiz data, include your Discord username so we can find your records; we may ask you to confirm the request from your Discord account. We will respond within 30 days.
Deleting your quiz data does not remove roles you already hold in the Discord server. Ask us in the same email if you also want those removed. You can also stop the site's access to your Discord profile from Discord's own settings for authorized apps.
12. Children
LearnToTick is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Discord also sets its own minimum age. If you believe someone under 18 has given us data, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
13. Security
The site is served only over secure connections. Secret keys stay on the server and are never sent to your browser. The database holds only what is listed above. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that data will never be exposed. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you as the law requires.
14. Where data is stored
Our data is stored with Cloudflare and Discord, which may process it in the United States and other countries. Our database is Cloudflare D1, located in Cloudflare's Western North America region.
15. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when what we collect or how we use it changes, and change the "Last updated" date at the top. For important changes we will try to give notice on the site or by email to confirmed subscribers.
16. Contact
